Women Build in Chattanooga

Women Build, a Habitat for Humanity International movement, takes on unique forms at each Habitat affiliate. In Chattanooga, Women Build is a complete home project — funded largely through our annual one-day fundraising event each spring. From the first concrete slab to the final touches of trim and landscaping, Women Build volunteers come together to construct an entire home for a local family in need of affordable housing.

Since its beginning, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga has built 30 Women Build homes with the support of passionate, women-led volunteer groups and generous sponsors who make this life-changing event possible.

Women Build isn’t just for women — it’s a movement that invites everyone to help empower women, break stereotypes, and show what we can achieve when we come together as a community!

Meet 2026 Women Build Future Homeowner, Emma

Emma, an Army veteran and lifelong go-getter, has always lived by the motto, “Be all you can be.” Growing up on a farm in south Georgia as the youngest of nine siblings, she learned the value of hard work early by helping in the fields, staying active in sports, and following in her brothers’ footsteps into military service. After serving in the U.S. Army and raising three children, Emma has worn many hats, from nurses aide to food service professional, always striving to set an example of strength and perseverance for her family.

Now, Emma is working toward her dream of homeownership through Habitat Chattanooga. She is earning sweat equity, attending homeowner classes, and learning valuable skills along the way. For Emma, this home will be more than walls and a roof; it will be stability, security, and a place to create lasting memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Grateful for the support and care of the Habitat community, Emma looks forward to a safe, peaceful home and the chance to live her best life.
