Why Shallowford?
In August 2023, Drs. Ruth and C.Y. Liu, through the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, donated 4.8 acres of land to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga.
Located across from the Shallowford Road YMCA and just one mile from Hamilton Place, the site offers access to schools, transportation, and jobs — yet affordable housing remains out of reach for too many families here.
The 22 families who will call Shallowford Hites home won't just receive a house. They'll earn it — contributing hundreds of hours building alongside volunteers, completing financial literacy and homeownership training, and making affordable monthly mortgage payments. Habitat provides 0% interest mortgages, so payments stay truly within reach.
