1985
A vision takes root
Early organizers launch Habitat in Chattanooga and receive a transformative $250,000 anonymous gift.
1986
The first home
Official affiliate recognition. First partner family moves from an abandoned school bus into a safe home.
1989–1993
Building momentum
Land secured, partners join, the 50th home is dedicated, and a permanent office is established.
1994–1996
New programs take shape
Homeownership education formalized. First student-supported home built. First Women Build home completed.
1998
100 homes strong
The 100th Habitat home is completed — a major milestone for the Chattanooga community.
2000–2004
Growing our reach
Women Build expands, HQ moves to East Main Street, and the ReStore opens its doors.
2007–2008
Building smarter, building faster
200th home built green. A Riverbend Blitz home rises in eight days. Students unite to build.
2010–2014
Recognized for impact
The ReStore earns LEED certification, revitalization programs expand, and community awards are received.
2015
250 homes and counting
Habitat celebrates its 250th home, expands A Brush With Kindness repair projects, and begins work in the Villages of Alton Park, former site of Spencer McCallie Homes.
2016–2018
A community takes notice
Dedication ceremonies celebrate new homeowners, Habitat's original volunteer returns for the affiliate's 30th anniversary, five new board members join, and Brant Mason becomes the organization's first Chief Financial Officer.
2019
New partnerships take hold
Pratt Home Builders sponsors a full home build, the community "raises the wall" at the annual Women Build home, and Thrivent Financial partners on a Faith Build house.
2020–2022
Building through uncertainty
Habitat presses forward through the pandemic, extends its mission to Haiti, partners with the City of Chattanooga on new homes, and constructs its first house using the EPB Zero Energy Resource Guide.
2023
Room to grow
C.Y. and Ruth Liu donate 5 acres of land on Shallowford Road, laying the groundwork for future growth.
2024
300 homes strong
Habitat dedicates its 300th home, located in the Villages of Alton Park.
2025
New models, new milestones
Habitat celebrates its 30th Women Build home, plans a 22-townhome development to address land scarcity, and closes the year with the inaugural Blueprints for the Future fundraiser, a new fall fundraiser succeeding the longtime Raise the Roof luncheon.
2026
40 years strong
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga marks 40 years of building home, welcomes new development leadership, and breaks ground on Shallowford Hites.
