1985
A vision takes root
Early organizers launch Habitat in Chattanooga and receive a transformative $250,000 anonymous gift.
1986
The first home
Official affiliate recognition. First partner family moves from an abandoned school bus into a safe home.
1989–1993
Building momentum
Land secured, partners join, the 50th home is dedicated, and a permanent office is established.
1994–1996
New programs take shape
Homeownership education formalized. First student-supported home built. First Women Build home completed.
1998
100 homes strong
The 100th Habitat home is completed — a major milestone for the Chattanooga community.
2000–2004
Growing our reach
Women Build expands, HQ moves to East Main Street, and the ReStore opens its doors.
2007–2008
Building smarter, building faster
200th home built green. A Riverbend Blitz home rises in eight days. Students unite to build.
2010–2014
Recognized for impact
The ReStore earns LEED certification, revitalization programs expand, and community awards are received.
2015
250 homes and counting
Habitat celebrates its 250th home and expands A Brush With Kindness repair projects.
