The Women Build Brunch brings together women and allies from all backgrounds to create lasting change for families in Chattanooga. This year, we proudly celebrated the beginning of construction on our 30th Women Build home! The event showed the incredible impact we can make when we work together — learning new skills, breaking barriers, and helping provide affordable housing for families in need.

Thanks to your generosity, we raised over $140,000 to help build Laquanta’s home — and there’s still time to give if you haven’t yet! Every gift moves us closer to helping families build strength, stability, and a brighter future.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on April 25, 2025, at The Chattanoogan Hotel. Together, we’re making a lasting difference — one home at a time.

The Women Build Program

Women Build, a Habitat International movement, takes on different forms at each Habitat affiliate. In Chattanooga, the Women Build is a complete home project, that is funded mostly through a one-day event in the Spring. Starting with the concrete slab, through the final trim work and landscaping, Women Build creates a whole house for a local family in need of affordable housing. Habitat Chattanooga has built 29 Women Build homes with the support of women-led volunteer groups and sponsors of this yearly fundraising event.

Women Build isn’t just for women — it’s a movement that invites everyone to help empower women, break stereotypes, and show what we can achieve when we come together as a community!

Meet 2025 Women Build Homeowner, Laquanta!

Laquanta, a hardworking mother of three, has spent the past several years investing in her life to create a better future for herself and her children. She began by building good credit, pursuing higher education, and applying for the Habitat program! Portions of this investment came to fruition last year when she graduated from Nursing School and began a new role at Erlanger. Her dedication to herself, and her kids, Darian (13M), Deon (11M), and Davion (7M), shines through as she works to achieve her dreams. Habitat is thrilled to partner with her as she continues on her journey towards homeownership!

2025 Event Chair, Donna Williams

Donna is a native Chattanoogan who returned home after more than a decade of living in Atlanta where she worked in marketing and business development roles at Apple and tech divisions of Simon & Schuster Publishing and Grey Global Group. While in Atlanta, Donna was on the advisory board of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity.

Following her return to her roots in Chattanooga, she became active in neighborhood revitalization efforts, real estate sales and real estate development in urban neighborhoods. As a real estate developer, Donna has built and renovated homes in the Fort Wood, Highland Park, Lincoln Park, Glenwood and ML King neighborhoods.

In addition to having served as the executive director of our Habitat affiliate here in Chattanooga, Donna served eight years as the administrator of the City of Chattanooga Department of Economic and Community Development where she and her team increased the quality and quantity of affordable housing units for low-to-moderate income families.

Currently, Donna is an affordable housing consultant to both the public and private sectors.
