Volunteers are our lifeblood. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the concept of providing decent, affordable homes through the use of volunteers. That idea has expanded to include a variety of areas where volunteers can get involved and make a dramatic difference in the lives of our homeowners and our community. We have a high need for creative, imaginative, energetic, compassionate people in all six phases of Habitat ministry: land development, home construction, mortgage servicing, homeowner education, volunteer opportunities and Habitat’s ReStore. We invite you to contact us and explore the many ways to you might use your time and talents.
- First Time Volunteers Must Attend a Volunteer Orientation.
- Orientations are held the 2nd & 4th Tuesday at 5:00pm and 1st & 3rd Friday at 10:00am.
- To sign up, please contact Dawn Hjelseth at dstoike@habichatt.org with any questions.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization that has been building simple, decent and affordable homes in Chattanooga, Tennessee, since 1986. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area partners with volunteers and low-income families to build affordable housing. The houses are sold to these families at no profit and with no interest. Homebuyer’s monthly payments support the construction of additional homes. Habitat also operates the ReStore, a building materials resale operation which generates funds for Habitat’s work, while making building materials available to the public at below- retail costs.
