Habitat’s ReStore operates as a retail store, accepting donations of new and gently used home and building items from individuals and businesses in the community. Those goods are then sold to the public at a reduced cost, usually 50 – 70% off the original rate. All proceeds support Habitat home builds by the local Habitat affiliate. Operating as a fundraising division of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area, the ReStore provides access to low cost redesignmaterials and saves local landfills from more construction waste dumping. Since May of 2004, Chattanooga’s ReStore has diverted 550 TONS of construction waste from
local landfills.

Through service to the environment, area homeowners, and Habitat homeownership families, the ReStore fosters community growth and development by providing homes to people in need. Once secure in homeownership, Habitat families can then grow into all that God intends for families and communities.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization that has been building simple, decent and affordable homes in Chattanooga, Tennessee, since 1986. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area partners with volunteers and low-income families to build affordable housing. The houses are sold to these families at no profit and with no interest. Homebuyer’s monthly payments support the construction of additional homes. Habitat also operates the ReStore, a building materials resale operation which generates funds for Habitat’s work, while making building materials available to the public at below- retail costs.
