ReStore Assistant Manager

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area (HFHGC) is an ecumenical Christian non-profit organization focused on housing solutions and neighborhood revitalization that benefits families and individuals in Chattanooga through home repairs, new construction and other direct services. 

Job Summary 

Reporting to the ReStore Manager, the Assistant Manager provides supervision to the store and operational support to the Manager as pertains to all aspects of store operations to include floor, displays, donations and pick-ups, sorting, storage, merchandising, pricing, product acquisition and any other aspects related to the successful operation of a profitable ReStore.   

Duties 

  • Assumes the duties of the ReStore Manager in the Manager’s absence 

  • Works with staff and volunteers to make their HFHGC experience positive  

  • Ensures that all customers and donors receive outstanding customer service 

  • Assists the ReStore Manager in opening and closing daily. Ensures that all points of entry are locked and secured at store closing 

  • Assists with daily register balances and deposits 

  • Assists customers and donors with their transactions 

  • Assists staff, senior aides, and volunteers with their duties 

  • Checks voicemail and email messages each morning, responds as needed or as instructed 

  • Ensures store and receiving areas are clean and organized 

  • Prices merchandise appropriately 

  • Assists with sales transactions and answering the phone when needed 

  • Assists ReStore Manager with viewing large donations 

  • Assists with ReStore events and trade shows 

  • Ensures store reaches daily sales goals 

  • Assists with maintaining inventory and order supplies when needed 

  • Assists with the recruitment & training of staff for ReStore 

 Required Qualifications 

  • Valid Driver’s License required 

  • Must be supportive of and passionate about the mission of HFHGC 

  • Ability to work in diverse groups of people, including age, race, gender, and socio-economic backgrounds 

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift 30-50 pounds repeatedly 

  • Must be able to drive a box truck up to 26’ 

  • Strong communications skills and customer service disposition 

  • Background check and drug screen required 

Qualifications Preferred 

  • Forklift certification preferred 

  • Retail experience preferred

Work Schedule: Full-time, generally between the hours of 8am and 6pm Monday - Saturday
