The construction process for the first LEED Certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Habitat for Humanity ReStore in North America officially kicked off with a ground breaking ceremony in late November 2010 and The Strauss Company started construction in early January 2011.

After nearly seven years, the ReStore has outgrown its location behind HFHGC's office at 1201 E. Main Street. The ReStore desperately needed to expand in order to accept more donations and serve the community on a larger scale.

Over the next six months, the current ReStore will be transformed, using a design by local architect Thomas Palmer of Palmer Built Environments. The completed building will include 3,000 additional square feet of retail space as well as advanced technology to make the building energy efficient.

Upon completion, the new ReStore will generate additional funds to support the home building program at HFHGC along with diverting material from the landfill and providing a resource for the local community.

Support for the renovation has been raised through a community wide campaign chaired by Scott and Lisa Maclellan. To date, $675,000 has been raised but an additional $125,000 is needed to complete the project.

While under construction, the ReStore has temporarily moved to 3126 Alton Park Blvd. Chattanooga, TN 37410 and is open Tuesday - Friday 9am - 5pm and Saturday 9am - 4pm.
