Welcome!
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing
organization, that has been building simple, decent and affordable homes in Chattanooga, Tennessee, since 1986.
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga partners with volunteers and low income families to
build affordable housing. The houses are sold to these families at no profit and with no interest. Volunteers provide most of the labor, while individuals and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.
As part of its ministry, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga operates the Home Store, a building materials store featuring building materials and some home goods, all at 50-80% off retail. Proceeds from the store are applied to the construction of more homes for people in need in our area.
