How To Volunteer

Opportunities exist for you to volunteer your time and talents to help people in need have simple, decent houses to call home. Please note: To ensure a successful volunteer experience, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga schedules volunteer projects up to 3-4 weeks in advance. If you represent a group, please contact Linda Sneary for more information about how your group can help transform lives by supporting the work of Habitat in our community.

Current Opportunities include:

In the Home Store:

  • Donation Pick-up Driver
    The donation pick-up driver will be on call one day per week to begin with. (Any donation calls received that week that require pick-up will be scheduled for that day.) The driver will report to the office in the morning to receive a list of all scheduled pick-ups and map out his or her route. We have a truck available for pick-ups. This position requires some heavy lifting and receives heavy appreciation. We love our pick-up drivers!

  • Donation Pick-up Assistant/Navigator
    The donation pick-up assistant/navigator will serve as an assistant to the pick-up driver one day per week. He or she will be responsible for helping the driver navigate smoothly to and from pick-up sites, as well as assisting in loading and unloading donated items. This position requires some heavy lifting and receives heavy appreciation. After all, what is a good driver without a faithful sidekick?

  • Cashier/Customer Relations Specialist
    The cashier/customer relations specialist will be responsible for running the cash register and assisting customers with their purchases. Cashiers are needed during business hours (Wed-Sat 9am to 2 pm) We are always happy to have as many customer relations specialists as our building can hold! (And we have a big building!)

  • Receiving/Pricing Specialist
    Receiving/pricing specialists will be responsible for receiving, logging, and pricing incoming donations as well as issuing receipts upon request. Receivers/pricers are needed during business hours (Wed-Sat 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) Again, the more the merrier! We can always use receiving and pricing volunteers.

  • Office Support
    Needs range for data entry to assisting with newsletters, special events and other projects.

  • General Construction Volunteer
    Construction volunteers are the foundation of HabiChatt. Without them, we would not be able to fulfill our mission and build houses for families in our community. No building or construction experience is needed. Click on our Construction Volunteer FAQ Sheet for more information.

  • Volunteer Site Coordinator
    A Volunteer Site Coordinator is in charge of a particular house build. They provide leadership and direction to construction volunteers. Construction knowledge required.

  • Lunch Coordinator & Helpers
    Habitat needs a lunch coordinator and a team of helpers to provide lunches for volunteer groups. This is a great way to help if you are not able to work on the jobsite.
