Dog House Decorating Contest Benefits Habitat
(Chattanooga, TN, October26, 2007) Like Dogs? Like to Build? Want to make a difference for people in need of affordable housing? Gather your friends, co-workers or team and design (or purchase and decorate) a dog house to donate to the Everyone Deserves a Habitat Dog House Competition and Auction to be held at Play Dog Excellent in Red Bank, November 18 to benefit the work of Habitat for Humanity in Chattanooga.
“We will have contests for dogs, face painting for the kids, food, activities and prizes,” says Jennifer Gordon, President of the UTC Campus Chapter which is sponsoring the event. “After the dog houses have been judged, they will be auctioned to raise funds towards the construction of a Habitat for Humanity home for a Chattanooga family.”
The UTC Campus Chapter of Habitat for Humanity exists to engage UTC students in transforming communities here and aboard through the construction of simple, decent affordable and safe housing, notes Gordon. “Chapter members volunteer several times during the year with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga, and participate in one build each year financially.”
Everyone Deserves a Habitat will be held from 1 -5 P.M., Sunday, November 18, Play Dog Excellent, 4113 Dayton Blvd, Red Bank, TN. Admission is $2 per dog – owners get in free. All dog houses must be in place by 1 p.m. on the day of the event. For more information about the event, contact Jennifer-Gordon@utc.edu
