Riverbend House 2007 America’s Home Place, The Chattanooga Association of Realtors, Chattanooga State and the Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union and 26 other Chattanooga businesses are partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga to build a home for a Chattanooga family on the grounds of this year’s Riverbend Festival. At the conclusion of the festival, the home will be move to its permanent location on Scruggs St.

“America’s Home Place and the Chattanooga Association of Realtors are our Covenant Partners for this build,” says John Atherton, Habitat’s executive Director. “We are grateful as well to Chattanooga State and the Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union, our Presenting Partners, for their support and leadership in launching this effort.”

“Thanks to all of our partners, festival goers will have the opportunity to witness the construction of a Habitat home, and learn more about how they can be involved in transforming our community one home and one family at a time,” says Atherton. “When low-income families have the opportunity to become homeowners, their children tend to stay in school, and become less likely to become involved in crime. When people invest their time and sweat in a home, they have a sense of ownership in their neighborhood. The ripple effect started by the construction of one home, spreads out in the lives of the volunteers who helped build it and continues to impact not only the family that purchases it, but also touches their children and grandchildren.”
